Rogério Carapuça

President, Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (APDC)

Rogério has been the president of the Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (APDC) since January 2013. His professional career has always been linked to information and communication technologies. Between 1981 and 1994, he was a lecturer and professor at the Superior Technical Institute (IST) in Portugal. At Novabase, he was a member of the Board of Directors since 1994 and Chairman from 1998 to 2015, taking on the roles of Chairman and Managing Director between 1998 and 2009. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, a master’s, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from IST and was also a researcher at the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC) from 1984-1994, where he was in charge of the Information Systems Group.

Currently, he's also a member of the Portuguese National Confederation of Agriculture (CAN) as part of the Recuperation and Resiliency Plan of Portugal (PRR) since May 2021, a member of the "Management Committee" of the Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program (CMU), and a member of the Order of Engineers, the Academy of Engineers, and the Portuguese Institute of Management. In February 2006, he was awarded the Grande Oficial da Ordem do Mérito Agrícola, Comercial e Industrial, in the class of Industrial Merit by the President of the Republic, Jorge Sampaio.
